Claudia Porras graduated Cum Laude from Eastern Kentucky University on a full tennis scholarship, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in History. While at Eastern Kentucky University, she was awarded the Outstanding Senior Award in Political Science and was selected as the Ohio Valley Conference Student-Athlete of the Year for her outstanding performance as a student and her winning contributions to the tennis team. She was a member of the Phi Sigma Alpha and Phi Alpha Theta Honor societies. While in college, she also clerked for former United States Senator Paula Hawkins.
Ms. Porras earned her Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law in Columbus, Ohio and studied comparative law at Oxford University in England. During law school, she also clerked for the Honorable George C. Smith, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of Ohio.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Porras practiced a mix of litigation and insurance defense law at a California law firm. Since then, she has brought her extensive litigation, defense, and language skills to the practice of immigration law at boutique immigration firms in California and Virginia.
Ms. Porras is admitted to practice law in California, Washington State, and the District of Columbia. She is also fluent in Spanish.
